Let's start simple

What is larimar?

Larimar is a rare blue form of pectolite, coloured by copper. It is mined only in the Barahona region of the Dominican Republic. Its name was coined in the 1970s from "Larissa", the daughter of one of its discoverers, and mar, Spanish for sea. Each piece has its own pattern of blue and white, like light rippling through water.

Its rarity and sea-like look made it one of the most loved stones for calm, gentle jewellery.

"Larimar is the sea on a calm day: clear, quiet and endlessly blue."
