Let's start simple

What is hessonite?

Hessonite is a variety of grossular garnet. Its name comes from a Greek word meaning 'inferior', because it is a little softer than other garnets, but it is a durable and beautiful gem. Under magnification it often shows a swirled, oily look, a helpful sign of the natural stone.

The warm honey colour of gomed is what most buyers look for.
