Let's start simple

What is aventurine?

Aventurine is a rock made mostly of quartz grains, with small flat flakes of other minerals mixed in. When light hits those flakes they sparkle. This sparkle has its own name: aventurescence.

The colour depends on which flakes are inside. Green fuchsite makes green aventurine; iron minerals make the warm orange, peach, red and brown shades.

One stone, many moods: the colour tells you which flakes are inside.
